Job Summary and Qualifications

Here is some of what you can expect from being a Unit Secretary with us:

• You will be responsible for the administrative coordination and operation of the Emergency Department in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of HCA HealthONE.
• You will provide intensive administrative support for the Director, Manager, System Coordinators and Educator.
• You will demonstrate independent critical thinking skills to assume accountability for personal contributions.
• You will greet patients and visitors in waiting areas, directing them to other departments, and keeping them informed of wait times.
• You will promote a positive, customer-oriented demeanor.
• You will perform patient-centered secretarial tasks, such as physician order entry and creating, labeling, and organizing patient charts. Disassemble and file charts after discharge.
• You will always maintain patient confidentiality.
• You will receive and direct all incoming calls and relay messages.

Qualifications you will need for this role:

• Health Care Facility experience is preferred but not required.
• Three years of previous secretarial experience is preferred.
• Medical terminology is required.
• Solid communication skills are required.
• Advanced computer skills with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrates good organizational skills.
• Displays appropriate judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers.
