The Pharmacy Clinical/Operations Specialist – Antimicrobial Management Program is responsible for participating in and leading pharmacy clinical or operational programs. This includes monitoring patient medication regimens and providing appropriate interventions.

Job Summary And Qualifications
The Pharmacy Clinical/Operations Specialist – Antimicrobial Management Program is responsible for participating in and leading pharmacy clinical or operational programs. This includes monitoring patient medication regimens and providing appropriate interventions.
What you will do in this role:
Antimicrobial Management Program tasks:
- Implements and maintains antimicrobial stewardship program, including developing and monitoring key performance indicators related to antimicrobial utilization and stewardship
- Develops annual antibiogram to improve antibiotic utilization and selection
- Develops and maintains protocols related to optimal antimicrobial use
- Prepares and implements competencies related to antimicrobial management
- Utilizes technology systems to ensure appropriate and safe use of antimicrobials
- Maintains effective communication with facility leadership team on antimicrobial stewardship opportunities
- Performs active monitoring of patients receiving antimicrobials with intervention to improve antimicrobial usage
- Coordinates the department quality management activities to ensure performance is routinely monitored and to ensure quality management (QM) reports are properly completed
- You will also help mentor pharmacy staff and students and evaluate and implement clinical/operational programs.
- You will Interpret orders and transcribe or verify them accurately and efficiently into the pharmacy computer system.
- You will Accurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticals.
- You will monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose.
- You will attend and actively participate in daily multidisciplinary and bedside rounds.
- You will complete drug utilization reviews to promote rational drug therapy and implement improvements identified.
- You will provide accurate and timely medication information to healthcare staff and patients.
- You will lead and develop pharmacy clinical services such as drug consults, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulant monitoring, pain management, IV to PO, renal dosing, and other programs as defined by Pharmacy Leadership.
- Required Education: Bachelor of Science (Pharmacy) or Pharm. D. Graduate of an accredited residency program with ID emphasis or Board Certification, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred Education: Antimicrobial Stewardship Certification (i.e. Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacist/SIDP or Making a Difference in Infectious Diseases/MAD-ID)
- Preferred Experience: Pharmacy Residency (PGY1) plus 1 year of ID/stewardship experience or pharmacy residency (PGY1) training and specialty residency (PGY2) training. Equivalent years of ID/stewardship experience may be substituted for the residency components.
