Job Summary and Qualifications
Performs supervision of the employees and coordinates necessary actions to improve quality and efficiency of cafeteria, room service, kitchen operation. Monitors compliance of employees with all sanitation standards from state, city, and federal groups. Performs functions associated with cash handling. Assists with meal service to patients and customers. Provides good customer service and performs service recovery as needed.
The duties and responsibilities described above are not a comprehensive list and additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned to the employee from time to time.
1. Complies with hospital/departmental policies and procedures, i.e. attendance, mandatory education, safety, infection control, etc.
2. Direct employees in completing work schedules and tasks required/assigned.
- Assists with layout and presentation of foods prior service.
- Assists with any restocking of any disposable food items and dishware/utensils as needed.
- Assists with notification of cooks and production staff of production needs.
- Assists with supervision of production staff during setup and service.
- Weekly schedule for VIP employee should be complete on Thursday at 12:00pm
- Responsible for first level HR functions for assigned area (s): Training needs assessment and coordination and/or delivery of training. Documents and initiates (corrective action) relative to performance, time and attendance, Interviews candidates.
- Follows temperature recommendations for service, storage, and preparation.
- Must know policies and procedures for HACCP standards, familiar with area appropriate HACCP logs and demonstrates how to document information on HACCP logs and take corrective action if problem is identified. Accountable for all kitchen HACCP temperature logs.
- Follows department HACCP policies.
- Follows cleaning and sanitation guidelines.
- Responsible for all regulatory data collection and sees forms are filled out correctly
- Directs staff to complete assigned cleaning tasks regularly.
- Completes any documentation as needed for storage and service.
4. Provides the highest standard for customer service during the meal service.
- Maintains atmosphere of optimum customer service at all times.
- Assists in service of all customers.
- Greets all customers cheerfully and respectfully following all safety measures.
- Observes proper portion control techniques.
- Rounding with Bursing (Ensuring Patient satisfaction)
- Working with Dietitians to ensure all diet supplements are stocked)
- Rounding of 3 Patient rooms each day (Order accuracy, Food Temperature and Timeliness of order)
5. Assists with orders, cleaning, and the assembly of foods for display.
- Completes all orders as required by Manager of Food Service.
- Assists with breakdown of area and preps for next day service.
- Assists with any reconciliation of records as needed. Signs off on forms.
6. Completes all duties as required by department.
- Completes staff orientation.
- Documents all necessary forms required.
- Completes department evaluations and disciplines.
- Attends management meetings as required.
- Follows department training guide with employees.
- Participates in departmental training for all employees.
- Spends approximately 75% of time in hands on supervision of staff.
- Completes any miscellaneous duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:
- Minimum Education: High School Graduate or GED
- Minimum Experience: 3 years experience in retail or hospital food service department.
- Supervisor experience including scheduling, performance improvement, ordering, inventory, budget control, and money handling.
