A Medical Record Abstractor is responsible for abstraction and organization and of clinical data throughout various electronic medical record systems. The Medical Record Abstractor will electronically enter past medical history data, past surgical history, and imaging data into the hospital’s electronic health record. Additional responsibilities include, answering the phone, quality reporting, bill submission, faxing, and participating in committee meetings and performance improvement projects as appropriate.
GED or High School Diploma required. Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Health Information Technology and Medical Record knowledge and/or experience are both preferred qualifications.
