Environmental Construction Technician:
Job Summary: The Environmental Technician will play a crucial role in the management, handling, and disposal of hazardous waste materials. This position involves conducting fieldwork, collecting samples, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of hazardous waste protocols and a commitment to environmental safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, label, and transport hazardous waste materials in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct field sampling of soil, water, and air to monitor contamination levels.
- Perform site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of hazardous waste activities, including manifests and disposal documentation.
- Operate and maintain equipment used for hazardous waste management.
- Assist in the development and implementation of waste minimization and pollution prevention programs.
- Respond to emergency situations involving hazardous materials.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on hazardous waste handling procedures.
- Picking up waste from various customer sites.
- Ensuring your load is properly secured for transportation.
- Completing accurate DOT shipping documents and internal service orders; Manifests, BOL’s, etc.
- Completing pre and post trip inspections on vehicles and equipment used.
- Performing daily site inspections of the yard and reporting back any issues to management.
- Be available for Emergency Responses that may happen after hours.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and what is needed for HCI’s success.
- Labor intensive, must be able to meet physical demands.
Experience:
- Forklift
- Loading and Unloading Trucks
- Inventory
- Running Equipment such as: Pump Carts, Drum Vacuums, Hand Tools.
- Able to work with manual hand tools such as shovels, brooms, sledge hammers, picks, etc.
- Experience and knowledge of air compressors/pneumatic power tools, generators/electric power tools.
- Able to complete daily pre trip inspections of work trucks and understands vehicle fluid levels.
- Comfortable with hitching and towing flat bed and enclosed trailers.
- Experience Operating Heavy Equipment such as Forklifts, Skid Steers, Backhoes a plus but not required...
- Need to have mechanic skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds or more unassisted.
- Willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor and industrial settings.
- Ability to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Frequently and on a daily basis perform tasks requiring climbing, sitting, standing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying and gripping
