Booth Creek Wagyu (BCW) is a vertically integrated Wagyu beef company primarily located in and around Manhattan KS. The vision of BCW is to become the leading direct-to-consumer premium beef company in the US. BCW consists of four different companies that encompass the raising of terminal and breeding genetics on the ranch, its processing facility, feedlot operations, and its own sales and distribution company with primary channels consisting of online sales and its own retail specialty “meat market” stores.
Job Description
The Staff Accountant position will participate in the day-to-day accounting for the Booth Creek Wagyu family of companies (BCW). BCW includes a real estate holding company, a seedstock ranch, a feedlot, a meat processing facility, and a multi-channel retail operation. The BCW entities are rapidly growing, and this role is instrumental in facilitating that growth.
Qualifications
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide support to operations staff in all BCW companies
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly accounting processes for BCW. This will include:
- Recording Sales, COGs, bank transactions, inventory adjustments, and intercompany transfers
- Participating in the AR process
- Participating in the AP process
- Reconciling bank accounts, and managing the companies’ cash position
- Reconcile inventory values
- Reconcile GL accounts monthly
- Assist in the preparation of periodic financial statements
- Prepare and submit monthly state sales tax returns
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to function well in a fluid environment and in a start-up culture
- Four-year accounting or finance degree preferred
- 3 years of experience in for-profit accounting
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
