Job Description: Senior Electrical Engineer
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with over 8 years of expertise in electrical engineering, specifically in system design, testing, and product development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing high-quality electrical solutions across various voltage levels, overseeing project tasks, and ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Documentation:
- Develop comprehensive design documents for high, medium, and low voltage electrical systems, including:
- AutoCAD 2D drawings.
- Calculation memories and specification documents.
- Single line diagrams, substation details, power distribution layouts, grounding systems, and lighting plans.
- Project Support:
- Collaborate with maintenance and construction departments to assist in project task planning.
- Coordinate and participate in substation switchgear and transformer testing activities, including:
- Insulation resistance testing (megger).
- Transformer turns ratio testing (TTR).
- AC and DC dielectric strength testing (Hipot).
- Very Low Frequency (VLF) testing.
- Contact resistance testing (ducter).
- Ground resistance testing.
- GIS high-speed contact testing.
- Engineering Drawings:
- Create conceptual engineering drawings using AutoCAD, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
- Switchgear and Motor Control Centers:
- Conduct safety and performance testing on low voltage switchgear and motor control centers, including:
- Full power thermal performance testing.
- Short circuit testing (up to 65kA rating).
- Seismic applications and insulation resistance testing (megger).
- Certification Testing:
- Oversee and facilitate certification testing with UL and CSA agencies to ensure product compliance and safety.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering.
- Strong background in system design, testing, and product development.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (Essentials) and SolidWorks.
- Experience with high, medium, and low voltage electrical systems.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including UL and CSA requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with power distribution systems, grounding, and lighting design.
- Knowledge of seismic design principles for electrical equipment.
- Familiarity with testing methodologies and equipment for electrical systems.
Work Environment: This position may require on-site visits to construction and maintenance sites. Candidates should be prepared for potential travel and work in various environmental conditions.
