Job Details
The Business Analyst will report to the Business Support Manager or Business Support Team Manager. The analyst will essentially have a field of expertise within the assigned function so as to be considered a subject matter expert (SME).
The Business Analyst's primary role is to interact with both the business and technology on technology development projects, reviewing and providing business/user expertise into business & functional requirements (BRD & FRS) and performing or coordinating user acceptance testing (UAT). As part of their role they will also analyze business processes for the purpose of completing business requirements documents. The Business Analyst will also undertake operational process re-engineering projects. For these types of projects, the Analyst will perform analysis of operational processes and may be required to give SME input. The Analyst will mainly work with direction from Business Managers, Senior Analyst or Team Manager on planning, project administration and implementation. The remit of the role is to support projects for a function(s) within Securities Operations in line with the organizational structure of this division within Asset Servicing. With some direction and oversight from either their management or Senior Analysts assigned to the same project, the Analyst will be responsible for ensuring that he/she completes assigned tasks and gives the appropriate business input so as to ensure the deliverable fulfills the business requirements for the assigned function. Any project that impacts the assigned function's operational areas will fall into the jobholder's remit. Projects will cover global markets for the assigned function and focus on the development and implementation of a continuous improvement strategy including process improvements, productivity enhancements, cost reduction and efficiency gains as well as, new products and services, industry initiatives and regulatory changes. Projects will also include working with Technology to implement solutions to issues that impact the ability of the business to conduct their normal operations. The line of business managers for the assigned function will be internal clients to the jobholder. The jobholder will also have relationships with groups outside of the functional areas, namely, Business Program Services, Technology groups, Client Change Management, Risk & Compliance, Product, Network, Legal, MIS, Client Services.
- Good knowledge of the commercial environment and of Asset Servicing business, its products and technologies.
- Must possess in-depth understanding of end-to-end operational flows across multiple system applications for their assigned function.
- Custody experience with operations required to be able to understand impact to assigned function during business requirements gathering and functional specification reviews of projects.
- Must have the experience and confidence to identify and raise risks and manage to resolution.
Business & Technical:
The Business Analyst is required to give input to business requirements and functional specifications. During this process, the Analyst works with Operational Management, Product, Compliance, Legal, Network, Technology to find solutions that lead to the Technology development. The aim is to deliver an end product that meets the business needs. Where project requires analysis to determine feasibility, the jobholder will draw on their business knowledge to propose a solution. For their assigned projects, Business Analyst have a responsibility to work with Operations, Product, Compliance, Legal, Network to gather the appropriate business requirements so that technology development meets the users/business requirements.
- He/she must ensure an appropriate level of test scripts and perform user acceptance testing. Failure to do so could impact operations business as usual service.
- Will interact with business operations staff for their assigned function.
- Will interact with other groups during projects lifecycle and when dealing with issues raised by those groups e. g. Business Program Services, Change Management, Technology Services and Risk Management.
- Is required to communicate effectively with all levels within the project environment. 'A' level or equivalent.
- Degree preferred.
- Asset Servicing preferred.
