Physician / MD qualifications required) Psychiatry (General) - We are seeking a Behavioral Health Medical Director. The Medical Director will work in a community health setting serving a population with chronic medical conditions and serious mental health issues, including substance use and PTSD.
Job Responsibilities :
Conduct psychiatric evaluations and complete reports.
Review and approve treatment plans, recommending evidence-based psychopharmacology and psychotherapeutic strategies.
Conduct psycho-pharmacological sessions and document encounters in the electronic health record.
Provide in-service training, lead mental health rounds, and contribute to enhancing the Article 31 mental health program.
Lead group psychotherapy sessions and attend Morning Rounds and Care Plan meetings.
Participate in professional development through training and workshops.
Lead High-Risk Rounds, recommending risk mitigation strategies.
Assist in recruiting and hiring behavioral health staff, create community engagement strategies, and provide clinical and administrative oversight.
Review notes and reports by psychiatric staff, and participate in training for behavioral health trainees.
Complete performance evaluations as assigned.
Requirements :
Psychiatrist (MD) degree
New York State Physician license
Board Certification
DEA registration
BLS|CPR certification
5 years working as a psychiatrist directly with clients required
3 years providing clinical supervision of other psychiatrists, psychiatric residents, fellows, or psychiatric nurse practitioners.
1 year of supervision in a community setting.
Ability to work Saturdays when needed.
