General Statement of Duties
Essential Duties
- Provides one on one instruction or tutoring with students
- Provides behavioral support to students
- Assists with classroom management and behavior modification
- Assists with field trips, community-based instruction, and other activities
- Assists students with personal care tasks,
- Assists with creation, organization, and distribution of instructional materials
- Reports student concerns directly and promptly to the teacher and assists with student resolution
- Assists with breakfast, lunch and snack, including clean-up
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Regular attendance is required
Minimum Qualifications
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and 25 to 50 pounds occasionally, and may assist, move, or restrain students when required to intervene in student safety issues. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, lift, walk, stand, and hear.
General knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in special education classrooms; ability to maintain records and confidentiality; ability to operate audio visual, standard office and computer equipment; ability to operate adaptive equipment; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students and administrators.
Must be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or equivalent. 42 semester hours from an accredited college or university or passing scores on the ParaPro assessment preferred. Upon successful completion, HCPS will reimburse the cost of the test. Reimbursement Information
Additional Information
The minimum salary for this 10-month/204-day/7.25 hour per day position is $25,647. The annual salary for this position will be prorated based upon the official start date.
