Estimator – Marine Construction
A leading recruitment agency is seeking an experienced Estimator on behalf of a well-established company specializing in marine construction. This role involves preparing detailed cost estimates, identifying project risks, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, knowledge of construction methods, and proficiency in estimating software to this highly rewarding role.
Key Responsibilities :
Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement :
- Partner with project teams to create and implement efficient processes for project estimating.
- Streamline take-off and estimation procedures to improve overall project efficiency.
Financial Management & Risk Assessment :
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for a variety of marine construction projects.Lead bid reviews and presentations with internal and external stakeholders.Prepare and manage bid documents, as well as cost estimates for change orders.Identify and mitigate potential risks and liabilities during the estimating process.Compliance & Day-to-Day Operations :
Ensure all estimating practices comply with company, industry, and regulatory standards.Manage day-to-day estimating functions, including data entry and record-keeping.Collaborate with project teams to align estimates with project requirements and client objectives.Technology & Innovation :
Utilize estimating software and technology to maximize efficiency and accuracy.Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to ensure estimates remain highly competitive.Monitoring & Review :
Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to assess the scope of work.Conduct thorough analysis of both internal and external cost estimates to ensure completeness and accuracy.Gather updated material pricing from multiple vendors to keep cost projections competitive.Culture & Talent Development :
Mentor and train junior estimators, sharing knowledge to enhance team skills and capacity.Collaborate with other team members to implement best practices across projects.External Relations & Representation :
Communicate effectively with project teams, clients, and vendors regarding estimates and project costs.Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions.Qualifications & Skills Required :
A minimum of 3 years of experience in construction estimating or a related field.Strong proficiency with estimating and accounting software.Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulatory guidelines.Ability to read and interpret complex project plans and specifications.Effective communication and collaboration skills with both internal and external stakeholders.Familiarity with construction project management software and best practices.Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational capabilities.High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or education in construction management is a plus.Compensation & Benefits :
Competitive salary : $70,000 to $125,000 , based on experience.Comprehensive benefits package, including :401(k) / Roth retirement plans
