Fiscal Assistant Payroll
As a Payroll Specialist on the Fiscal Team, you will be responsible for accurately entering employee time and pay data, calculating deductions, processing new hires and terminations, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring timely and correct payroll payments are distributed.
Education Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred.
Experience
- Experience in processing payroll; accounting skills overall
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now software
- Experience with MIP Fund Accounting program and/or related accounting program
Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of the Head Start Act and Head Start Performance Standards a plus

Job Duties Summary
- Responsible for processing of payroll on a bi-weekly basis
- Entering timesheets, pay rates, and other relevant payroll information into ADP
- Calculating gross pay, deductions, and net pay based on company policies and regulations
- Gathering new employee paperwork, setting up payroll deductions, and ensuring proper tax withholding is established
- Calculating final checks, including accrued vacation time, and updating payroll records for terminated employees
- Maintaining accurate employee payroll files, including tax forms, benefit information, and other relevant documents
- Generating payroll reports for review by Comptroller
- Staying current with payroll regulations and ensuring compliance with Federal and State laws
- Addressing employee payroll inquiries and resolving any issues that may arise
- Other various tasks as assigned by Comptroller or Chief Financial Officer
Starting Pay: $26.46 - $27.78 per hour depending on education
Full Time: 40 hours per week
Full Year: 52 weeks per year
