The Quality Assurance Specialist (QA Specialist) supports the Blood Center by assisting the Medical Director, Sr. Director of Risk Management, and the Director of Quality Assurance. What you will be doing:
- Generate reports, prepare donor/hospital letters, and mail notification letters with follow-up. Update comments and deferrals in ABO Express, and log incident reports in BCx/WebEnvision. Report positive test results to states and manage donor test result requests.
- Creates and performs reviews of QMS events to ensure the quality of blood products is maintained.
- Reviews Donor History Questionnaires (DHQs), follows up with donors post donation.
- Assures a high level of customer service by responding to donor inquiries in a timely manner and communicates with the lab about donor status, duplicate donors.
- Ensures compliance in all documentation with FDA, AABB, and other standards and regulations
- Complete and track medical evaluation forms throughout their entire lifecycle.
- Participate in the Safety Committee and perform and document safety inspections.
What you will bring to the role:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or GED and 2 years of experience in an administrative role required.
- Two years of experience in a blood bank/healthcare setting is preferred
- Familiar with the lot release process, DHQs, internal filing procedures
- Demonstrated ability to accurately review and write SOPs.
- Excellent communication (verbal, written, and listening) to engage with donors and employees of all backgrounds through phone, email, in-person.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle changing priorities to meet the needs of the blood center.
Additional information:
This position reports directly to the Sr. Director of Risk Management & Donor Health at our Bethlehem location and will be responsible for adhering to the following schedule:
- Core Hours: M-F; 8am - 4:30pm
