Role Responsibilities
- Take design stories from concept to completion with different Development teams across multiple products.
- Design fully usable mock-ups and prototypes for Web applications that back-end developers can take and run with.
- Evaluate our web and mobile suite, identify UX/UI improvements or changes in HCSS products, and create solutions.
- Create effective user interface applications with an emphasis on simplicity and consistency.
- Lead and contribute to design discussions with peers or stakeholders.
- Collaborate with product managers, development supervisors, quality assurance, developers, executives, and other UX designers on various design projects.
- Contribute to and maintain our style guide and contribute to design system discussions.
- Proactively research and interview subject matter experts and end-users to define concepts, expand on business requirements, and learn more about our users’ business problems.
- Relevant work experience as a UI/UX Designer, similar role, or role with transferable skills in researching and designing for software development
- Ability to creatively design effective workflows or interaction designs as proposed solutions within constraints from business requirements, user needs, and company goals
- Ability to identify and interview subject-matter experts, stakeholders, and users
- Strong analytical, time management, and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with teams effectively
- Ability to present and articulate design decisions clearly to peers and stakeholders
- Experience or foundational skills in storyboarding, wireframing, interaction design, user flows, whiteboarding, mock-ups, and prototyping
- A solid understanding of Web and mobile user experience design
- A strong foundation of UX principles
- Experience in designing clear user interfaces that intuitively guide the user
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot UX/UI design issues
- Portfolio of work showcasing ability to create effective solutions towards positive user experiences as well as proficiency in UI and interaction design
- A bachelor’s degree, formal training, or certification in design, human-computer interaction, psychology, digital communications, or a related field is preferred but not essential
- Proficiency in visual design and prototyping tools, e.g., PhotoShop, Illustrator, Figma, Sketch, UX Pin, Adobe XD, InVision, Axure, etc.
- Strong presentation skills
- Experience or strong foundation in user or usability testing or other research methods
- Solid skills in copywriting, UX writing, and writing design specifications/documentation
- Strong foundation or understand of design systems or design libraries/components
- Experience or working knowledge of being part of an agile environment
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
