Job Title: IT Project Manager
Duration: 2 months initial - likely extension
Location: Santa Barbara, CA
*MUST be authorized to work independently on W2. No third-parties, and no sponsorship.
Hiring Manager Notes:
- This Project Manager will be coming in and taking some PM tasks off a current full-time employee that they are moving over to another project.
- Looking for a Project Manager or very Sr. level Project Coordinator with hospital PM experience. They don’t have to know the ins and outs of a hospital, but comfortable operating in the healthcare environment.
- Previous waterfall methodology experience as they are a waterfall dominant shop. They sometimes use agile.
- MS project experience.
Skills:
- PMP project management certification from Project Management Institute
- Competency using project management tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Microsoft Project or other workflow documentation tools). Working knowledge of Information Technology and hospital operations.
- Minimum: 7 years of IT project management experience. Desired: 9 years of healthcare IT project management experience.
- Implementation experience with integrated health care information systems(clinical or non-clinical).
- Must be able to work with system users to define requirements for projects.
- Must be able to plan deliverables and tasks. Must be able to identify task dependencies, appropriate task sequences, and appropriate resources to complete the tasks. Must be able to identify issues, recognize when to escalate issues to upper management, be able to present alternative solutions and their implications, recommend actions, and manage the resolution. Must take initiative to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
- Must make timely decisions to assure efficient project progress.
- Must be able to work together with management to: 1) Manage scope, time, cost, and quality of projects; 2) Identify resources and manage resources to deliver projects on time; and 3) Manage project issues and escalate issues when necessary. Must be able to lead and motivate teams; needs a good understanding of motivational techniques since project team members may not report directly to the project manager even though the project manager is responsible for assuring their work is done well and in a timely fashion. Must be organized, thorough, and disciplined. Must be comfortable setting and meeting deadlines.
