POSITION SUMMARY : The Clinical Nurse Consultant is responsible for providing consultation, guidance, and professional nursing expertise, including the assessment of resident needs, development of action plans, aiding in goal accomplishment, and monitoring the progress of assigned Managed Communities (MCs). This position is also responsible for assisting in the development, revision, and implementation of policies and procedures which ensure efficient, effective, and compliant performance of MCs.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Provides guidance to assist MC management in the development of plans of action for correction of issues identified through internal and regulatory reviews. Communicates regularly on potential identified risks related to compliance, patient liability, and adverse events.
- Reviews medical record documentation promptly in high-risk situations; provides training and assistance on this topic, when needed.
- Ensures that the system for reporting and evaluating events is functioning as effectively and efficiently as possible; assists MCs with post-event management.
- Provides risk management guidance to MC leadership and implements loss prevention strategies.
- Participates in Health Dimensions Group's Positive Review and Evaluation Process (PREP) services product.
- Reports to MC regarding status of identified areas of opportunity, implementation, and follow-up.
- Participates in the interviewing, hiring, orienting, and mentoring of all new Directors of Nursing and Directors of Wellness in assigned MCs.
- Monitors and coaches the Director of Nursing and nurse leadership in MCs; provides training as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE :
Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements related to nursing and long-term care required.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively coach,
motivate, and develop others required.
Ability to travel approximately 80% of the time.
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse, required.
