What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Maanger position at HDT Global?
HDT Global is looking for an Engineering Manager with an engineering background in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC - HVAC/R) to join our growing team east of Cleveland. Our Geneva plant, located right next to Ferrante on Route 307, is significantly adding production volumes and we are looking for a leader to help support the growth. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and inspiring the team with lots of new product design work. This hands-on role will involve teaching, coaching, project management, and technical direction for a mix of experienced and new engineers. Please read on if this position sounds interesting.

Responsibilities
- Manage, coach, and support a team of 8-12 engineers, designers, and technicians
- Complete annual performance review process
- Set and achieve goals and assists direct reports in doing likewise
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner, makes and keeps commitments and expects same of direct reports
- Manage budgets, costs, and schedule inputs for design assignments
- Manage new product development, production support changes (EC’s), and team priorities
- Support proposal, technical write ups, and provide quotes to Sales/BD
- Utilize Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) / Environmental Control Unit (ECU) background including load calculation, refrigeration system design, component selection, etc. to specify, design, and troubleshoot equipment
- Demonstrate knowledge of pending changes in refrigerants and impact to the company's military and commercial legacy equipment and new equipment designs (preferred)
- Demonstrate understanding of applicable MIL and commercial standards essential for equipment design and compliance (preferred)
- Hands-on building, fitting, and testing prototypes
- Check drawings and designs to ensure compliance to the company and design specifications
- Adhere and train to company revision control practices and ISO processes
- Interpret specific system and product design requirements which ensure conformance to functional, customer, and operations/manufacturing criteria
- Interface internally with all facility associates, management, and staff
- Interface externally with customers and/or vendors for the purpose of furnishing, obtaining, and/or clarifying information
- Provide engineering program/project technical support to both internal and external customers
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defends organizational mission, values, and culture
- Adhere to all quality and safety standards
Experience / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical strongly preferred)
- Must be able to speak, read and understand English
- Must be a US Citizen
- 3 years' of management experience strongly preferred
- 5 years' system engineering, or equal experience
- Possess effective oral and written communication skills
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with customers, vendors, employees, and managers at all levels within the company
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, prioritize work assignments, and multi-task to meet deadlines
- Ability to offer their own opinions and commentaries while being flexible and responsive to constructive feedback by managers and peers
- Competent technical expertise including application of technical principles/techniques from established practices, as well as a functional knowledge/understanding of engineering processes, techniques, and practices to perceive the fit, form, function, and manufacturability of design quickly/accurately
- Thorough, functional knowledge and understanding of Computer Aided Design application principles (SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD (for electrical, schematics, and layout) experience preferred)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Possesses strong PC-based computer experience including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is essential
- Enterprise/ Material Requirements Planning (ERP/MRP) software system experience (SAP preferred)
- Possess quality orientation and high attention to detail

- Work is accomplished in a typical office environment with adequate environmental (heating/cooling) control. The noise level in the work environment is moderate due to noises associated with computer equipment and environmental control systems
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets
- Access to operations and manufacturing areas may involve exposure to loud noises, dust, fumes, oils, and fluctuations in temperature
Physical Demands

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee alternates between sitting and standing/walking for long periods of time

- Ability to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required per plant rules
