Essential Duties :
Supports the department by creating a variety of complex mechanical / electrical / electronic designs for new parts, subassemblies, assemblies, or systems configurations using CAD, compiling bills of materials and assisting in the assembly of prototypes. Leads continuous improvement initiatives. Mentor's colleagues.
Draws multiple views; depicting relationship of component and parts; identifying dimensions,angles, curvatures, tolerances, and materialsPrepares bills of material (BOMs) and specificationsCreates required documentation and processes engineering changesImplements design to costImplements design for manufacturabilityImplements design for maintainabilityImplements design for weightEnsures quality of drawings and functionality of equipment by assisting in the building / acquiring of prototypesMakes various calculations, such as strength of materials, weights, simple forces, and stresses, frequently using charts and tablesAnalyzes the effect of proposed changes for proper fit and / or interference problemsRecommends possible solutions or alternate constructionModifies drawings and models as requiredConfers with engineers to resolve issuesProvides assistance to lesser experienced drafters by communicating work priorities, providing technical assistance and verifying accuracy of workMaintains CAD equipment by following manufacturer's instruction and procedures; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs, as requiredContributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive mannerCompletes drafting as requiredSupports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organizationAdheres to all quality and safety standardsSupports other projects and performs duties as assignedEducation / Experience / Other Skills & Abilities :
Five (5) plus years of strong performance as a designerAssociates degree in related field or equivalent experience required; Bachelor's degree preferredAble to work independentlyExperience with three or more CAD programsCompetent technical expertiseComfortable with the shop / laboratory and equipmentPossesses quality orientation and high attention to detailPossesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with customers, vendors, employees and managers at all levels within the companyPossesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)Disclaimer : This job description is not designed to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities required for this role.
