We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join a dynamic team in Orlando, FL. This mid-senior level role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in electrical and controls engineering, ready to contribute to large-scale projects and drive innovative solutions.

Position Overview :

We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer with a deep understanding of engineering principles and the ability to design innovative solutions from the ground up. The Controls Engineer will be responsible for the design and implementation of control systems, including hardware, software, and network configurations. The role involves electrical panel design, risk assessments, component selection, programming, and commissioning of control systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and their practical applications
  • Design and optimize control systems for long-term reliability and efficiency
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations and analysis, including stress, fatigue, reliability, and life expectancy assessments
  • Create designs from scratch, avoiding reliance on copying and modifying existing designs
  • Utilize 3D modeling software (preferably SolidWorks) and AutoCAD for design work
  • Provide expert insights on engineering decisions and design choices
  • Develop control system designs from concept to completion, including electrical / control components.
  • Utilize drafting software for system design (AutoCAD preferred).
  • Collaborate with various disciplines to integrate systems effectively.
  • Optimize system hardware layouts and manage vendor scope to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Ensure compliance with local, government, and client-specific codes and standards.
  • Perform safety-critical design and analysis, incorporating redundant systems for increased reliability.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for system configuration, design, and maintenance.
  • Conduct system design calculations and analysis, including short circuit protection, noise reduction, and safety system implementation.
  • Support installation and commissioning processes, including potential off-shift work.
  • Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong background in engineering principles and their practical applications
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software, preferably SolidWorks
  • Expertise in AutoCAD
  • Experience in performing complex engineering calculations and analysis
  • Ability to design systems from a blank sheet, demonstrating creativity and innovation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills to explain engineering decisions and rationales

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in controls engineering, covering most of the responsibilities listed.
  • Preferred experience with ASTM standards but NOT obligatory, the attractions industry, and safety engineering.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office environments.
  • Experience with industrial hardware / software (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and ethernet-based distributed remote I / O systems.
