POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sustaining Engineer supports Head Rush Technologies’ Manufacturing and Product Development teams. Their work helps ensure that all products leaving the factory are fully functional, defect-free, and are efficiently and consistently assembled using components that meet the company’s stringent Quality requirements. The Sustaining Engineer works together with the cross-functional teams to implement improvements to Engineering/Production processes and resolve any issues that may arise during production. In addition, the Sustaining Engineer collaborates with New Product Development Engineers to improve the current product line and ensure smooth product launches. This is a hands-on role where frequent mechanical evaluation of components and assemblies is required. Preference will be given to those that have direct experience with the evaluation of complex mechanical assemblies.

When/if the company learns of any manufacturing bottleneck or potential deficiency, it is the Sustaining Engineer’s top priority to collaborate with the necessary teams to efficiently mitigate and/or eliminate the concern. Additionally, the Sustaining Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the systems and procedures to reduce or eliminate future deficiency occurrences.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Product Engineering Manager, based in our Louisville, CO headquarters. The ability to reliably commute or a plan to relocate before starting work is required. Relocation assistance will not be offered for this position.

ESSENTIAL SUSTAINING ENGINEER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Objective/Measurement – Completion of assigned tasks within designated timeframe, established within annual action planning processes.

The ideal candidate possesses high mechanical aptitude with a broad range of expertise and the ability to effectively oversee change management. Climbing and/or work at height experience is a plus.

·        Design and Develop improved components, assemblies, and tools for Head Rush’s current product line and manufacturing processes

·        Maintain/Update file revisions for current product utilizing Solidworks/PDM

·        Coordinate with cross-functional teams to implement recommended component/assembly/process improvements

·        Assist NPD Engineering with testing and evaluation of new or revised components/products including mechanical testing, DFM/A, GD&T, DFMEA, Tolerance Stack Analyses, and First Article Inspections and with the smooth transition of new product initiatives into production.

·        Collaborate with Supply Chain on vendor development, qualification, and cost down initiatives (VAVE)

·        Develop and Maintain component specifications, drawings, inspection documents, and service manuals

·        Aid in the resolution of manufacturing, quality, and reliability issues including root cause analysis and corrective countermeasures

·        Create Engineering Change Requests and manage through completion

·        Document and maintain Engineering processes and procedures

·        Maintain product and company reputation by assuring compliance with Head Rush’s Quality Management System and requirements of Module D CE certification

·        Generate Engineering Reports to clearly communicate test results and recommended actions

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a related engineering discipline

·        Minimum 5 years of experience in a Sustaining or Design Engineer role

·        Prior experience in a regulated product development industry is preferred

·        Minimum 3 years of experience with CAD, Solidworks and PDM preferred

·        Working knowledge in the utilization of root cause and corrective action tools and methods

·        Exceptional problem solving/analysis skills using sound engineering principals

·        Project Management Skills – ability to simultaneously manage mulitple projects

·        Effective communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex information to varied audiences

·        Ability to work in a collaborative team environment with shifting priorities

·        Legal authorization to work in the US without sponsorship is required for this position

COMPENSATION and BENEFITS:

·        Salary Range $80,000 – $120,000 per year variable year end bonus
