TITLE: BUYER
FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT
REPORTS TO: SR. MANAGER, PURCHASING
SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Sr. Manager of Purchasing, the Buyer plays a critical role in ensuring the uninterrupted procurement and supply of goods and services for the company. The role requires excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills, the ability to establish internal and external strategic relationships, and a good understanding of the procurement process. This position is located in Milpitas, California.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Reviews and processes approved purchase requisitions to purchase orders for goods or services using Oracle
- Requests, analyzes, and negotiates quotes from suppliers
- Monitors Purchase Price Variance (PPV) to ensure lowest cost, and negotiates with suppliers over time to reduce cost
- Monitors and tracks open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery
- Partners with suppliers to resolve overdue or delinquent orders and escalate as needed
- Maintains and updates approved supplier list; identifies and secures alternate sources as needed
- Monitors and tracks supplier performance which includes price, quality, on-time delivery, and responsiveness
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to support their procurement needs
- Partners with other departments such as accounting, suppliers, and/or requestor to resolve invoice discrepancies
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures as required
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level*
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, and/or equivalent relevant experience
- Three years of procurement experience in a semiconductor or manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience using an ERP system such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, or SAP
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the purchasing principles and practices, including reviewing purchase requisitions, on time delivery, supplier management, and cost reduction initiatives
- Knowledge and experience to use an ERP application such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, or SAP to manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders
- Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office applications to create spreadsheets, Word documents, and presentations
- Able to communicate effectively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and management both verbally and in writing
- Able to comply with all safety policies and procedures
- Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving and trouble shooting skills
- Flexible and able to prioritize
The annual base salary for this full-time position is between $80,808.00-$118,834.00 bonus target benefits. Within the range the individual pay may differ depending on additional factors including job responsibilities, job related knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience. The annual base pay range shown is subject to change and may be modified periodically.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Buyer works primarily in an office environment from Monday to Friday. The schedule may be altered from time-to-time to meet business or operational needs; may travel from building-to-building as needed. Stands, sits, and walks; performs various fine grasping movements, bends, and twists; operates a computer and enters information using a keyboard, operates a telephone, and other office equipment. May occasionally push, pull, or lift up to 10 or more pounds.
