TITLE: Sr. Member of Technical Staff
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Vice President Engineering
SUMMARY:
The Sr. Member of Technical Staff reports to the Vice President of Engineering and is responsible for the mechanical and tribology design and testing of HDD heads with a focus on the Head/Disk Interface reliability, specifically with HAMR technology.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Lead the HDI/HMS mechanical design and testing of HDD heads, collaborating closely with teams in TDK/HWY and SAE to address thermo-mechanical design issues.
2. Interact with wafer design and process teams at Headway and back-end process teams in SAE.
3. Validate and test new designs with the testing team on site.
4. Present to various customer groups on HDI programs and products.
5. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics, or equivalent relevant experience.
2. Ten years of progressively challenging experience working in the HDD industry.
3. Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
4. Ability to travel internationally on a quarterly basis.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
1. Knowledge of HDI design in HDD with application to HAMR technology.
2. Principles of reliability and failure analysis.
3. Skilled in ANSYS, MATLAB, Python, or similar platforms.
4. Microsoft Office applications for creating spreadsheets, documents, and presentations.
5. Data analysis, report creation, and recommendation of corrective action.
6. Effective verbal and written communication with contractors, employees, and management.
7. Productive collaboration with employees and management.
8. Compliance with safety policies and procedures.
9. Demonstrated ability to interact with customers and make presentations.
10. Organizational and time management skills, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
