POSITION REPORTS TO:
Yard Supervisor
OVERVIEW OF DUTIES:
The Load Builder is responsible for pulling materials and building truck loads in a safe and efficient manner. In addition, the Load Builder is also responsible for Yard Customer Service duties.
In addition to this overview of job duties, other assignments or job duties may be required.
SPECIFIC AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Carefully identify product to ensure correct materials, sizes, and accurate quantities are pulled for all orders.
2. Prepare load while keeping the following in mind:
a. Build load so it will safely ride on trucks.
b. Evenly distribute material lengths and tallies.
c. Consider what material the customer will use first on load, when possible.
d. Protect product, particularly finish materials, from damage and exposure.
e. Wrap and tarp loads during rainy or damp weather.
f. When applicable, build load so it may safely “roll off” the truck.
3. Advise Yard Supervisor when product inventory levels are low.
4. Advise Yard Supervisor or Delivery Supervisor if we cannot meet the tallies requested on an order.
5. Keep all Yard areas free of debris, straps and stickers.
6. Complete an inspection report for each forklift every day before initial use.
7. Work in a safety conscious manner at all times. Follow all safety regulations and security guidelines. Actively contribute to work safety and security. Maintain a safe, clean, and pleasant work environment.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
2. Knowledge of various of building products.
3. Prior forklift experience.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB:
1. Ability to understand and communicate written and spoken information and ideas.
2. Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
3. Ability to lift, carry and maneuver goods that may weigh 100 pounds, utilizing additional personnel and mechanical assistance as required.
4. Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs and torso such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials.
5. Ability to courteously and professionally interact with customers, vendors, and employees.
6. Ability to encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among coworkers.
7. Ability to keep up to-date technically and apply new knowledge to job.
8. Ability to manage work time efficiently.
9. Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include nights and holidays.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
