What are the responsibilities and job description for the Annual Giving Manager position at Healdsburg Museum?
The Annual Giving Manager is responsible for membership, mid-level giving program and its support activities and work with the Board of Directors to produce our annual major event. This is a new part-time position, approximately 35 hours/week. The location is in our downtown Healdsburg Museum office with some remote and weekend work. You’ll join a staff team comprised of the Executive Director/Curator, Assistant Curator, Administrative Coordinator, a Bookkeeper, an active Board of 13 that helps with events and programs, and a strong base of 75 volunteers.
Healdsburg Museum is positioned for significant growth thanks to recent investments in our capacity building. This position will be responsible primarily for increasing individual and business membership, managing our annual successful event and building our mid-level donor program. We are looking for an experienced development professional who understands the strategies for growing annual giving programs, has proven success in managing annual giving programs and will bring best practices as well as creative ideas to our development processes. Development program growth goals include growth of membership and mid-level giving and expanded sponsorship opportunities for events.
Job duties include:
- Manage a membership program (currently 350 members), implement strategies and actions for growing the program: including communications calendar, appeals, benefits.
- Manage mid-level giving programs for growth, best practices and helping to build relationships with donors. Mid-level giving includes individual gifts up to $5000.
- Manage, with the Board, the successful annual “History Lives” Dinner and Auction, collaborating with other team members on promotion and program development and implementing the event plan.
- Work closely with the ED to evaluate progress on the membership and mid-level programs helping make mid-course adjustments for success. Be a thought partner on strategies for growth and sustainability.
- Be a public-facing representative of the Museum at appropriate community events. Know best practices for community building.
- Prepare reports for the ED and the Board on membership, mid-level and event planning, outcomes, budget and proceeds.
- Prepare communications, appeals, and updates for donors.
- Be able to present the Healdsburg Museum case for support to donors and the public.
- Assist in promotions of new and ongoing Museum exhibitions to donors and members.
- Understand the marketing goals of the Museum and integrate them into the programs managed.
- Assist in identifying potential major donors from mid-level programs, work with ED and Board in developing relationship strategies.
- Bring enthusiasm, positive attitude and professionalism to your work and the team.

Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in a development office with annual giving programs.
- Experience with the many aspects of producing an event, proven experience with event coordination, budgets, sponsorships and execution of day-of-event activities. Work in partnership with the Board members, who are integrally involved in the operations of the event.
- A solid and enthusiastic team player; supportive of colleagues.
- Strong communication skills bringing candor, empathy and strategic thinking.
- Experience working with diverse groups of donors in age, culture and background.
- Proven experience and success in making membership and mid-level asks of donors.
- Understanding of marketing principles and their application.
- Experience collaborating with volunteers on events and programs.
- Strong writing skills; Experience writing and developing fundraising and membership communications; working with graphic artists.
- Have transportation for donor visits and community events around the Healdsburg area.
Technical
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience and proficiency with CRM (Customer Relationship Management) or donor management software; Google docs.
Desired: Canva or other graphics program expertise. Healdsburg Museum uses Bloomerang donor management software, familiarity with this CRM is a plus.
Compensation and administration information
The Museum is open Wednesday – Sunday.
This position is Monday – Friday, 10 am – 5 pm. 35 hours per week. Occasional events will take place outside of M-F 10-5.
Compensation: $65,000 – $70,000, annually.
No healthcare is currently offered; we provide a monthly stipend of $330.
