HHCI is in search of a PMHNP for the Outpatient Mental Health Center (OMHC). This position is primarily remote for as long as tele-health services are permitted by HHCI’s regulators and funding sources, but will require the contractor to report to the office (located in Baltimore, MD) as needed. This need will be determined and communicated to the contractor by the CEO.

Position Summary:

The PMHNP operates as the primary prescriber for an assigned caseload of clients within HHCI’s treatment and recovery services division. The PMHNP is responsible for utilizing evidence-based practices to assist their clients with meeting their treatment and recovery goals, and operating within the scope of their profession.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct psychiatric diagnostic evaluations of all newly admitted clients within 30 days of admission to the program, or earlier if needed
  • Conduct psychiatric diagnostic evaluations of all existing clients annually, or earlier if needed
  • Engage clients in recurring medication management sessions
  • Provide psycho-education to clients
  • Electronically prescribe medications, including new medications and refills, via the electronic health record
  • Ensure that prescriptions are sent to the clients’ pharmacies no later than the end of the day of the encounter with the client
  • Complete and submit prior authorization (PA) forms for medications requiring the PA to be completed no later than the end of the day of the encounter with the client
  • Discuss medication changes, concerns, side effects, and a plan to address concerns/side effects with assigned clients
  • Document medication changes, concerns, side effects, and plans to address concerns/side effects in the progress note that corresponds with the date of the encounter with the client
  • Complete documentation on the electronic health record, including progress notes, psychiatric evaluations, and assessments, within 24 hours of the encounter time
  • Review and sign treatment plans completed by the primary psychotherapist of mutually shared clients
  • Attend and participate in clinical treatment team meetings, including offering professional recommendations and training the team
  • Collaborate with consented external providers and internal clinic personnel, and consented individuals from the clients' support networks regarding the treatment goals of mutually shared clients
  • Administer long-acting injectable (LAI) medications to clients who are prescribed LAIs
  • Participate in at least one internal committee within the organization as determined by the CEO
  • Provide coverage in the absence of other prescribers within the organization whenever needed
  • Rotate on-call prescriber responsibilities, and resolve urgent on-call matters via phone
  • Complete required trainings within established timeframes
  • Comply with all relevant standards and regulations of HHCI, the state of Maryland’s Behavioral Health Administration (BHA), The Joint Commission, HIPAA, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center
