Job Summary: The Donations Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing the collection of donations, including driving the donations truck to pick up items. This role involves liaising with donors, scheduling and executing donation pick-ups, and ensuring donations are processed efficiently. The Donations Coordinator also plays a crucial role in maintaining donor relationships and ensuring that the donation process runs smoothly and effectively.

General Accountabilities:

• Coordinate and manage the collection of donations, including scheduling and organizing pick-up times.

• Drive the donations truck to pick up items from various locations, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of donated goods.

• Maintain a detailed log of donation pickups and deliveries, ensuring accurate record-keeping.

• Communicate with donors to confirm pickup times, addresses, and specific instructions for handling donations.

• Inspect donated items to ensure they meet the organization's standards for acceptance.

• Load and unload donations safely, using appropriate equipment and techniques.

• Maintain the donations truck, ensuring it is clean, fueled, and in good working condition.

• Organize and store donated items in designated areas, ensuring items are sorted and categorized appropriately.

• Work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers to coordinate the processing and distribution of donations.

• Provide excellent customer service to donors, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.

• Maintain an inventory of donation supplies and equipment, ensuring everything needed for pickups is available.

• Assist in organizing and setting up donation drives and events.

• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines when driving and handling donations.

• Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall mission and goals of the organization.

Skills/Job Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or education in logistics or customer service is a plus.

• Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, especially in donation collection or logistics, is preferred.

• Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; class E driver’s license is required

• Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving heavy items.

• Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships with donors and colleagues.

• Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures for handling and transporting donations.

Skills:

• Driving Skills: Valid driver's license and clean driving record; ability to drive a donations truck safely.

• Customer Service: Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with donors and address their needs.

• Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage schedules, logistics, and record-keeping.

• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items; physical fitness to perform manual labor tasks.

• Communication Skills: Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Attention to Detail: Ability to inspect and assess donated items for quality and suitability.

• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address any issues that arise during the donation process.

• Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively and adhere to schedules.

• Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers.

Physical Demands

• Lifting and Carrying: Frequent lifting, carrying, and moving of items weighing up to 50 pounds or more.

• Driving: Prolonged periods of driving the donations truck, often in varying traffic and weather conditions.

• Manual Dexterity: Ability to use tools and equipment necessary for loading, unloading, and moving donations.

• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform other physical tasks for extended periods.

• Environmental Conditions: Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, and inclement weather, while performing donation pickups and deliveries.
