Wage Range: $24.78-$32.55/hour

The Healing Lodge of the Seven Nations is a youth residential treatment facility which provides a safe and caring healing environment for adolescents. Located on 51 acres, our wellness program provides a peaceful environment for treatment balanced in traditional, cultural and spiritual values and practices. These values and practices foster respect, honesty, generosity, strong cultural identification and hope for positive life changes. The Healing Lodge treatment program integrates traditional, spiritual and cultural values with chemical dependency and mental health counseling to create a holistic approach toward healing. Residents include both Native American and non-Native from all areas of the country.
Job Summary
The Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUDPT), will be learning and working with inpatient residents, conducting group and individual counseling sessions and related assessments. This position participates in planning and implementation of individual treatment plans, ensuring adherence to all organization, county, state, licensure, Joint Commission, and CARF standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Participates in planning and implementation of individual resident master treatment plan.
• Conducts self-help individual and group therapy sessions. Conduct assessments to arrive at theoretically sound case management.
• Maintains personal interaction with residents on the unit and provides modeling to encourage positive behavior.
• Evaluates and monitors resident behaviors, assessing the degree of improvement and/or the need for referral to a higher level of care.
• Counsel’s residents and families in aftercare planning, including placement and follow-up care with community (tribal, service units, school districts, etc.).
• Coordinates discharge for residents, including, but not limited to, ensuring resident has proper ID, transportation, luggage, etc.
• Provides support to Skills Coaches within a team environment.
• Makes presentations to multi-disciplinary teams on substance use disorder subjects/issues, and progress/obstacles of individuals on caseload in individual treatment/recovery efforts.
• Provides progress notes, discharge summaries, target forms, and other forms of documentation utilizing the substance use disorder information system.
• Ensures all files are complete and in compliance with organization, CARF, and Joint Commission Case Management Standards.
• Practice positive employment engagement and communications. Create a positive exchange and engagement with employees by promoting involvement and enthusiasm in their work and in the workplace. Be proactive in handling workplace gossip by reducing negativity that leads to a toxic work environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
• Enrolled in an Addiction Studies Program and have completed one (1) semester and/or two (2) quarters of addiction studies with an accredited program for Addiction Studies, or Associate’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field, and working on the Core Courses of Addiction Studies.
• Two years’ related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Social Work, and/or training working with chemically dependent adolescents or inpatient treatment preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:
• Valid Washington State Driver’s License for operation of Healing Lodge vehicles
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Basic computer skills, including working knowledge in MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• SUDPT’s will be directly under the Clinical Supervisor.
Supervisory Controls and Published Guidance:
• SUDPT’s will be supervised by the Clinical Supervisor. SUDPT’s will meet with the Clinical Supervisor on a weekly basis to go over what was done that week to sign off on hours.
• It is the responsibility of the SUDPT to make sure all required hours are signed off by the Clinical Supervisor on a weekly basis.
• Clinical Supervisors will be directly supervising all groups, individual counseling sessions and related assessments required by the WAC for the first 50 hours of training with the SUDPT’s before they will be able to meet with clients without direct supervision.
Environment and Physical Demands:
• Occasionally required to bend, stoop, or crouch and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
• Work is generally performed in an indoor environment with frequent normal-level conversations.
• Work situations involve interpersonal relationships in a job setting beyond giving and receiving work instructions.
• The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
