Position Overview: The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Director will lead strategic direction, planning, and execution of our comprehensive safety, security, and emergency response programs. This role is critical in ensuring regulatory compliance, minimizing risks, and promoting a culture of proactive safety and preparedness throughout our organization. The position will require travel to various company offices located in Gonzales, LA, Broussard, LA, Owensboro, KY, Louisville, KY, Ashland, KY, and Cincinnati, OH.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to staff, cultivating a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement.
- Oversee incident investigations, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety protocols into all operational aspects.
- Manage audits and inspections, maintaining excellent records and reporting mechanisms.
- Lead emergency preparedness and crisis response strategies, ensuring effective emergency planning, drills, and response procedures.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, maintaining strong relationships and open communication channels.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent highly desired.
- 5 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in safety, security, emergency preparedness, and crisis management.
- Exceptional knowledge of regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DHS, etc.).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to influence and engage employees at all organizational levels.
