The Role

Medici, Health by Design is actively seeking Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team as a Healthy Living Academy Nurse Educator. This is a part time opportunity, 2 days a week (Tuesday and Thursday) from 8 : 00am - 5 : 00pm. Some The Healthy Living Academy Nurse Educator will provide knowledge to patients regarding healthy living and healthy nutrition choices that will assist participants in developing a plan that will enable them to manage their health for life. This state-of-the-art Health and Wellness Center is located in the growing South area of San Antonio in the Roosevelt area and cares for a unique patient population which includes retired Fire, Police and other First Responders. Some occasional travel to our other 3 clinic locations could be required, typically 15-20% of the year.

What You'll Do

• Provide individualized education to patients in the Healthy Living Academy program and through consultations.
• Present the concept of successful management of body composition which consists of accountability of accurate food records, exercise which includes cardiovascular and strength training, getting enough sleep, managing stress levels, and education about nutrition and body composition.
• Present concepts of successful health management.
• Introduce nutrition lessons which enable participants to gain practical experience in evaluating foods and learn basic principles of nutrition.
• Provide individual nurse visits assessing the participant's progress, reviewing food records and answering questions.
• Document vitals, patient progress, and individualized plans of care using electronic medical records.
• Attendance is an essential job function.
• Provide nutrition education relevant to the dishes being prepared during cooking demonstration classes
• Assist with food preparation activities during cooking demonstration sessions
