The Role
Health by Design is seeking a PRN Ultrasound Sonographer (RVT or RVS) to join our dynamic team! Will provide PRN coverage for our full-time Sonographers on an as-needed basis. Beautiful, out-patient Primary Care and Wellness Centers caring for a truly unique patient population which includes retired Fire, Police, and other First Responders. Shifts will always be Monday - Friday, between the hours of 8 : 00am - 5 : 00pm. These shifts are often scheduled in advance to cover for staff that are taking PTO, but at times, this person could be needed on an ASAP / emergent basis. Must be willing to work at all 4 of our clinic locations which include Westover Hills (Culebra & Rogers Road), Fair Oaks (IH-10 & Ralph Fair Road), Schertz (IH-35 & Schertz Parkway) and South San Antonio (Roosevelt & 410). The Ultrasound Sonographer will use ultrasound high-frequency sound waves to take images of the body's internal organs and tissues to assist physicians with diagnosing and monitoring a variety of conditions and diseases. Types of scans will include Carotid Intima-Media Thickness Tests (CIMT) / Carotids, Abdomen, Bladder, Kidney, Testicle / Scrotum, Thyroid, Extremities, Thrombosis and Liver.
What You'll Do
- Explain sonographic procedures to patients, answering questions, preparing patients by applying the gel to the skin, and positioning the patients on the table
- Ensure clear images for diagnostic purposes and adjust the sonographic equipment when necessary
- Select the appropriate settings and adjust the patients' positions accordingly
- Monitor and care for patients to ensure their safety and comfort during the procedures
- Select and examine images, looking for differences between healthy and pathological areas, and determining if the scope of the exam should be extended, based on preliminary findings
- Present the sonograms and preliminary findings to the Physicians
- Complete the appropriate documentation and maintaining patients' histories and medical records in the electronic medical records (EMR)
- Assist Physicians and the healthcare teams during invasive procedures
- Maintain and clean the sonographic equipment
- Perform administrative and other duties as needed

Requirements
Education and Experience :
Education : Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Sonography or Medical Radiology
Experience : Minimum of one year of related clinical experience and / or training.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required :
American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RVT) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (RVS)
