Job Description:
A critical member of our Purchasing Department, the Buyer is responsible for negotiating and purchasing materials, supplies, and equipment with established vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiate and purchase materials, supplies, and equipment from vendors with existing contracts.
- Reduce costs while maintaining quality products and services by driving vendor performance.
- Analyze bids in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Initiate and maintain all purchase orders, blankets, contracts, and related documents.
- Review acknowledgements for agreement with purchase orders and resolve discrepancies with suppliers.
- Follow-up and expedite orders as necessary to meet schedules.
- Provide leadership in cost reduction and control measures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business or equivalent education/experience.
- At least two years' experience in direct purchasing functions or equivalent work experience.
- Good MRP/ERP experience; Epicor P21 preferred.
- Understanding of compliance regulations (GMP, FDA, DEA, Customs, USP, etc.).
- Knowledge of inventory procedures and controls.
- Excellent team player with strong communication skills.
