SUMMARY:
The Truck Driver/Laundry Operator may be required to perform any or all duties related to the processing of linen and its delivery. This position reports to the Laundry Supervisor or Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Non-Supervisory Duties:
- Pick up soiled linen from nursing units and deliver to laundry.
- Pick up soiled personal linen for patients and deliver to patient laundry.
- Pack and distribute clean linen to nursing units.
- Perform routine maintenance on trucks.
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisor or manager.
- Perform general housekeeping in the laundry, trucks and soiled linen areas.
- Knowledge:
- Must know how to operate laundry equipment.
- Must know the operation of truck and equipment.
- Must be familiar with the location of all nursing units.
- Skills and Dexterity:
- Good driving and safety habits
- Education:
- Ability to read and write
- Experience:
- Experience in driving large trucks
- Physical Activity (complies with Infection Control Policy and Procedures)
- Heavy lifting, routinely lifting 30-60 pounds, i.e., transfer of laundry to machines, to carts, to units, etc.
- Ability to stand for 6-8 hour shifts
- Driving of large truck along with getting in and out of truck frequently
- Pushing carts to nursing units. Involves much walking pushing carts weighing 250 pounds to 1,000 pounds loaded.
- Working Conditions:
- Working temperature conditions varies according to the season.
- Unpleasant odor and contact with soiled linen.
- Work environment is indoor and outdoor

- Must get along with public, all other employees and inmates.
