This position is responsible for oversight of the organization's compliance with Federal, State and Local laws and regulations, especially compliance with Article 28 of the New York Public Health Law, Article 31 of the New York Mental Hygiene Law and HIPAA. The Director is responsible for the annual review of all clinical and non-clinical policies, and works with all Operational departments on the regular update and implementation of policies. The Director reviews regulatory requirements related to the organization’s hiring, training, and continuing educational programs for clinical and non-clinical staff. The Director proactively assesses regulatory risks and works with senior leadership to instill a culture of compliance throughout the organization. The Director remains current on all regulatory matters affecting the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review structure and substance of organization's policies and procedures/mechanisms for annual policy review/revisions
Strategize with senior leadership on regulatory and compliance challenges facing the organization (including potential future regulatory requirements) and develop a plan for implementation of strategic initiatives in alignment with regulatory requirements.
Actively collaborate with departmental leaders on unique regulatory requirements (ie: radiology, HIM, Dental, etc.) to ensure that workflows, training, licensing and record-keeping are compliant with relevant regulations
Collaborate with each service line leader to oversee internal audit and mock survey program for all Health Centers to ensure compliance with Article 28 of the New York Public Health Law and Article 31 of the New York Mental Hygiene Law and other federal, state and local regulations. Report to senior leadership on trends in audit findings and make recommendations to effectuate continuous improvement.
Lead efforts with leadership from Clinical Applications, IT, Clinical, Administrative, Claims/Eligibility and External Relations teams to ensure synchronicity with regulatory requirements.
Chair of Organization’s Regulatory Committee. Active member of Quality Assurance Committee, Infectious Control Committee, and other committees as appropriate.
Oversee the Organization’s ethics hotline, including management of 3rd party hotline provider. Assist with internal investigations related to ethics complaints.
Collaborate with Human Resources on regulatory requirements related to hiring and continuing education of staff.
Assist other departments on regulatory requirements, implementation and training.
Other leadership duties befitting a director for the overall benefit of the organization.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
BS in Health Administration or related field (Masters preferred).
5 years minimum related work experience with significant emphasis in regulatory or compliance managerial position.
Experience leading inter and intradepartmental review and implementations of policies.
Executive level customer service, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
Salary ($118,000-$150,000)
