Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) applications; strong organizational, information processing, and critical thinking skills, as well as close attention to detail; Demonstrated ability to generate reports, presentations, and summaries; familiarity working in a dynamic team setting, and ability to collaborate with a diverse team in a fast-paced atmosphere;, and; understanding of and experience in the areas of health equity, health disparities, and social determinants of health; Familiarity with the landscape of NYS hospitals and Article 28 facilities preferred; working with or within hospitals and Article 28 facilities a plus

Duties Description

Reporting to the Equity Assessment Reviewer, the Assistant Assessment Reviewer will assist the Health Equity Impact Assessment Unit in the New York State Department of Health Office of Health Equity and Human Rights in reviewing Health Equity Impact Assessments (HEIA) that are submitted to New York State Electronic Certificate of Need (NYSE-CON) system by health care facilities across New York State. Duties will include conducting the first review of HEIAs for completeness and ensuring all necessary issues within the documents have been addressed; compiling and summarizing information coming in through HEIAs; working and collaborating with the Assessment Reviewers enhance the quality of information coming in through HEIAs and identify improvements to the overall HEIA review process; provide written and verbal status reports to the Assessment Reviewers, and; perform other appropriate duties as assigned. Review submitted Health Equity Impact Assessments and accompanying documents to ensure inclusion of all required documents and that all necessary issues within the documents have been addressed and are in compliance with program regulation guidance; Develop written summary documents of reviewed Health Equity Impact Assessments; Identify program gaps and sharing with supervisory staff, considering HEIA Unit’s goals and other relevant conditions and trends, and any statutory changes to enacting legislation; Act as liaison for administrative processes between Department of Health staff and applicants for documents related to the Health Equity Impact Assessment Determine if established quality metrics, standards and reporting requirements are met for submitted assessments; Work with the Assessment Reviewers on effective evaluation of submitted HEIAs and collaborate on activities identified to enhance the quality of information coming in through HEIAs and improve the HEIA submission and review processes as appropriate; Provide written and verbal status reports to the Assessment Reviewer(s) and other leadership as needed.
