The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Creates and modifies activities and programs based on residents’ interests and mental and physical needs to optimize enjoyment. Arranges for a mix of activities, including those provided through outside vendors, community involvement, staff delivery, and off-site activities, such as ball games and country rides. Coordinates activities and programs with other departments and residents’ schedules. Arranges for refreshments and transportation as needed. Observes resident attendance and degree of involvement, documents progress notes as required, and completes the Minimum Data Set (MDS). Assists in setting up and cleaning up activity rooms for scheduled programs. Encourages residents to participate in the various activities and programs offered. Operate facility bus/van for outings.

Minimum Qualifications 1. 12 semester credit hours in therapeutic recreation, arts, crafts, dance, drama, or physical education and one year of experience in direct client care in a geriatric setting*2. a high school or high school equivalency diploma and two years of experience in direct client care in a geriatric setting*3. four years of experience in direct client care in a geriatric setting**Direct client care experience includes, but is not limited to, attending to patients’ personal hygiene, grooming, nutrition, and daily living needs. Examples of geriatric settings include, but are not limited to skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care, and adult day care facilities, and senior centers.Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in a recreation setting and/or fundamental knowledge of recreation programs.
