The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Do you enjoy the outdoors and have a passion for environmental and public health? Make your summer count by working as a Student Assistant for the New York State Department of Health’s Center for Environmental Health (CEH)!Student Assistants support the mission of CEH by performing a variety of administrative and environmental health functions during New York State’s summer season and beyond. Student Assistant positions assist CEH district office environmental health staff by performing a variety of critical administrative support functions. Positions may also perform environmental health inspection functions in the field for the purposes of ensuring compliance with the New York State Sanitary Code and environmental health regulations.A Student Assistant role provides interested individuals with the ability to gain real world experience in the field of public health through on-the-job training. Flexible opportunities are available from May to September, with the potential opportunity to extend into Fall 2025.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be a matriculated college student. Documentation of current matriculation must be submitted with your resume.Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will be an undergraduate or graduate student interested in exploring a career in public/environmental health. They will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team; problem solve effectively; have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; strong interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and other computer programs as needed.
