POSITION SUMMARY: The Vice President, Clinical Services is responsible for providing global leadership and assessment of clinical performance, direct quality oversite, and clinical system development for all Managed Communities (MCs).

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develops, reviews, and ensures consistent application of all clinical, regulatory, and quality policies, procedures, and standards for MCs, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations.
  • Oversees clinical programming and processes for all new acquisitions and new developments until transition to the regional team is complete.
  • Provides leadership to the Regional Directors of Quality and Clinical Services (RDQCS), ensuring standardization, knowledge, and growth of this team.
  • Develops orientation and education tools for RDQCSs, DONs, DOWs, and Nurse Managers in MCs. Facilitates orientation with new DONs and DOWs with the assistance of the RDQCS.
  • Serves as a member of the Quality and Compliance Committee, providing leadership oversite for all clinical quality initiatives and programming.
  • Serves as Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) trainer for clinical services MCs; ensures MCs have an effective and thorough QAPI culture.
  • Serves as Nurse and Nurse Consultant in MCs, as needed.
  • Serves as Clinical Coordinator for all product and program development. Provides research of clinical products, programs, equipment, and software prior to implementation in MCs.
  • Ensures LMS platform provides all state-specific education and training for direct care clinical staff on an annual basis.
  • Works in collaboration with Clinical Informatics for ongoing review and development of Point Click Care (PCC) to ensure documentation is compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Identifies key clinical and quality metrics with benchmarks to be measured weekly / monthly / quarterly, including regulatory, satisfaction, and 5-star performance in all MCs. For MCs not reaching benchmarks, develops a highly organized systematic analysis/root cause to improve quality performance, documented through performance improvement projects (PIPs).
  • Supports the scheduling and provisions of PREP surveys for all MCs, ensuring PREP surveys and subsequent plans of correction lead to obtaining high quality survey outcomes.
  • Maintains tracking of all survey and regulatory activity, including timelines for responding to plans of correction, IDRs, and potential civil monetary penalties due to survey citations.
  • Completes review and provides recommendations on all incidents of risk and litigation forMCs.
  • Completes annual standards review of Quality/Clinical Core Processes at all MCs,implementing revisions as needed.
  • Collaborates with the SVP of Quality to develop and implement programming for senior living communities with a special focus on memory care environments.
  • Fosters positive relationships with vendor partners, including but not limited to, pharmacy, lab, wound care, and medical suppliers while ensuring formularies are appropriately developed and followed. Develops and maintains professional memberships as appropriate.
  • Maintains current knowledge of clinical and regulatory trends, market trends/developments impacting skilled nursing and senior living communities, and expectations and changes in regulation, policy, and practice related to clinical best practices, quality measures, and compliance; provides updates and direction to MCs to remain informed and progressive in their role as healthcare providers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge:
    • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills required.
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop others on clinical policy.
  • Abilities:
    • Demonstrated ability to think analytically and work proactively to identify opportunities
      for performance improvement, compliance, and accuracy.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a deadline driven environment,
      while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, colleagues, employees, and contractors.
    • Ability to travel approximately 80% of the time.
  • Experience:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required; Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
    • Five years’ experience with multi-facility management with both skilled nursing and senior living experience preferred.
    • Experience using PCC EHR a plus.
