What are the responsibilities and job description for the Orthopedic Surgery Physician Assistant (PA) position at Health eCareers?
The PA will work closely with our experienced total joint surgeon in providing exceptional preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care to patients undergoing hip and knee replacement surgeries. Key Responsibilities
Assist in total joint replacement surgeries, including hip and knee arthroplasties.
Conduct preoperative evaluations, including history-taking, physical examinations, and patient education.
Perform first-assist duties in the operating room, including wound closure, retraction, and tissue handling.
Manage postoperative care, including rounds, dressing changes, and patient education.
Conduct follow-up visits, assess healing, and manage complications as needed.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as X-rays and lab work.
Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising surgeon.
Work closely with physical therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Maintain accurate and thorough patient records in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Current state PA license and NCCPA certification.
Strong surgical first-assist skills.
Excellent clinical, communication, and teamwork skills.
