What are the responsibilities and job description for the Urologic Oncologist position at Health eCareers?
The Opportunity
Innovative approaches in Urological Oncology start here. Join a team of nationally respected, board-certified providers who are committed to providing quality care, educating providers, and conducting research to advance the field.
Our WVU Cancer Institute is composed of a multidisciplinary care center, Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center (MBRCC), in Morgantown, West Virginia, as well as 13 regional sites across the state of WV and surrounding regions. MBRCC is one of the country's premier cancer treatment centers. We are a quaternary cancer center holding the state's only Transplant and Cellular Therapy (TCT) program, and the only Hyperthermic Intraoperative Peritoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) program, to name a few unique services. The growth of the Institute is driven by a mission to connect patients in all areas of the state and region with a broader team of cancer specialists. Our growth is centered on five common themes: clinical enterprise and advancement; statewide cancer prevention, control, and outreach; research; and education.
COMING SOON: Hazel Ruby McQuain Comprehensive Cancer Hospital | Seeking NCI Designation
With the most recent $50-million-dollar donation to the health system from the Hazel Ruby McQuain Charitable Trust, we can begin the building of our new Hazel Ruby McQuain Comprehensive Cancer Hospital of the WVU Cancer Institute. This will be multiple level facility that will include inpatient surgical suites, procedural rooms, inpatient rooms for those requiring overnight or extended stays, outpatient clinics, dining services, an outpatient pharmacy, and much more. This is in addition to the $50-million-dollar investment that the state of West Virginia committed to expanding cancer research, faculty, and facilities for the 2024 fiscal year budget.
This $100-million-dollar seed money is a testament to our state and institutions commitment to providing our communities and beyond with the most advanced cancer care, research, and treatment available. All while providing the necessary infrastructure for a new NCI-designated Cancer Institute in Morgantown, West Virginia, and our existing network of Cancer Institute sites across the state to become NCI-designated.
Pursuing a career at West Virginia’s largest health system and the state’s largest private employer, the WVU Health System (WVU Medicine), means you have access to many challenging and rewarding opportunities in Urology.
The System has undergone significant expansion in specialty and sub-specialty care in areas such as women’s health, cancer, heart and vascular, and neuroscience, among many others. The Health System operates West Virginia’s first and only multi-organ transplant center and a 150-bed Children’s Hospital.
At your primary workplace, J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, you will have access to a full complement of 40-plus ORs, a full fleet of robotic platforms (8 Xi /1 SP /1 DV5), extensive onsite and offsite ancillary services, and the WVU Cancer Institute.
The West Virginia University School of Medicine Department of Urology seeks two board-eligible/board-certified urological oncologists. These exciting opportunities are the result of our increased clinical demands to support our expanding health system. The first position is a clinical track, and the second position is a research track with protected time and resources to pursue research interests (approximately 50/50, but flexible).
