As the wound nurse, you will assist the wound program leader; you will help plan, coordinate and manage the skin/wound program. You may provide infection prevention management as well.

Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the resident’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan for effectiveness
Requires valid RN/LPN license, CPR card and must pass a criminal background check, drug screen and physical
Responsibilities
Ability to perform wound assessment, reassessment and management for all residents per policy
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and disorders of the dermal system
Utilizes principles of current wound management theory when providing care to residents with acute and chronic wounds
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of staging system of wounds
Develops skin care program to prevent skin breakdown of residents
Integrates research findings to clinical practice
Knowledgeable of surgical procedures and postoperative course of resident undergoing surgery
Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain
Educates the resident and family regarding pain management
Is a resource person to physicians, nursing and other clinical staff
Provides in-services on wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care and incontinence for the nursing staff

Qualifications For Treatment Nurse
- Licensed Nurse with experience in wound management
- Maintains current CPR certification.
