What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Technician/Contracts position at Health First Community Health Center?
SUMMARY: Provides support for all accounting, business and financial reporting functions. Assists with audits, cost reports, AP and budget development for the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounting:
- Prepare journal entries and maintain/prepare monthly balance sheet schedules and bank reconciliations as assigned
- Assist with departmental budgets
- Assemble data and assist with monthly 340B and EPLS audits (and others) as needed
- Assist with monthly closing, account analysis and support in carrying-out the responsibilities of the Accounting Department
- Track deposits made to bank and handle deposit transfers
- Monitor credit card charges, payment discrepancies, refunds, returns and miscellaneous charges
- Track tax payments and compile information for tax filing
- Ensure organization is following purchasing polices
- Pay organizational expenses/bills in a timely manner and ensure accurate Accounts Payable/Receivable documentation
- Receive, open and reconcile invoices, as well as get approval to pay invoices from department heads when necessary
- Open mail and work with 3rd party billing vendor on payment posting daily
- Scan all EOBs received and send to 3rd party billing vendor
- Assist with monthly reports for department heads
Contracts:
- Ability to manage the contractual proposal and review process from start to finish, to include meetings to discuss and track contract schedules and changes
- Research compliance issues, interpret regulations, and formulate recommendations in regards to contracts
- Review terms and conditions, in addition to other business agreements, coordinating with CEO and Corporate Legal counsel as needed
- Contract management and administration to ensure proper contract attainment and implementation of specific requirements in accordance with company policies and HRSA.
- Assist during government audits and reviews.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or equivalent, with minimum two (2) years previous experience in AP/AR. Travel required to training programs and other meetings related to the position and its duties, functions and responsibilities. Excellent computer skills required to produce spreadsheets and other vital reports.
