Summary of Duties
As an EMR Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of Health First’s electronic medical records system. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across departments, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure accurate and timely delivery of vital patient data.
Essential Responsibilities

Collaboration and Relationship Building:
- Establish strong relationships with all departments and colleagues.
- Develop and maintain an empathetic and conscientious attitude toward EMR system users.
- Data Management and Troubleshooting:
- Ensure patient-related information is correctly labeled, attached, and delivered to the proper medical personnel.
- Troubleshoot issues with incoming and outgoing medical record data, including faxes and health information exchange data.
- Maintain and ensure the quality of patient charts, including historical data, digital imaging, labs, and documentation.
- System Accuracy and Quality Assurance:
- Collaborate with clinic staff to ensure consistency in electronic record input as defined by policy.
- Partner with the quality department to stay informed about changing quality requirements.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting to the CIO as required.
- Support and Professional Development:
- Serve as support and backup for Health First’s IT/HIT technician by:
- Resetting employee account passwords in the EMR system.
- Handling internal help-desk requests related to the EMR system (after training).
- Performing IT technician duties as assigned (after training).
- Network and complete professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Serve as support and backup for Health First’s IT/HIT technician by:
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with contracts, laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:EDUCATION:
- Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree or higher preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in a health care setting.
- Experience with electronic medical records system required.

- Ability to assess, organize and plan; demonstrated skills in problem identification and problem solving.

- Computer literate and capable of operating an EMR.
