What are the responsibilities and job description for the Exercise Specialist - Viera ProHealth, Full Time position at Health First?
To be fully engaged in providing Quality / No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by: Servicing the needs of the members through orientations, education, instruction, and evaluation in the area of health and fitness.
Primary Accountabilities
- Responsible for providing new members orientation to include but, not limited to teaching/ explaining the principles and guidelines to exercise set-up and demonstration on all types of exercise equipment, Proper lifting techniques-When cleaning up you should not put weights above your head or on your neck, explain heart rate range, age predicted and RPE, explain the FITT principle to exercise
- Must be able to demonstrate (according to department standards) the ability to handle an emergency code. Must be competent in the handling of a real code in regard to BLS and the use of the AED and oxygen. Must show the ability to handle the code alone if necessary.
- Conduct fitness assessments according to ACSM Standards.
- Assist with wellness screenings.
- While working the Cardiovascular area Specialist will be responsible for circulating the Heart Rate monitor every 5-10 minutes.
- Maintains equipment keeping them clean and in good working order to prolong life of the equipment.
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or Health Science Education with an emphasis in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology... etc.
- Must have good personality and enjoy working with different populations.
- Must have strong customer service skills.
- Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
