Job Role Summary
The Training and Development Facilitator - Behavioral Health Professions, GF trains, coaches, and develops early career behavioral health professionals for Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center's ("SEMHC") behavioral health workforce and professional development program(s). This position also provides training and coaching to established SEMHC team members to ensure parity in knowledge and skill level to graduates of SEMHC's workforce and professional development programs(s). This position identifies and utilizes appropriate methods of instruction with an emphasis on adult learning techniques. In collaboration with the Program Coordinator - Behavioral Health Professions, this position develops, implements, and evaluates all SEMHC team member education.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the Program Coordinator - Behavioral Health Professions to evaluate, develop, and grow workforce and professional development programs for SEMHC while proactively contributing to Eskenazi Health's mission of Advocate, Care, Teach, and Serve while modeling Eskenazi Health's values of Professionalism, Respect, Innovation, Development and Excellence
- Embraces, understands, and operates under the Recovery Model, including AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) as well as the spirit of motivational interviewing
- Provides information, directs structured learning experiences, and manages group discussions and group processes
- Trains, coaches, and develops early career behavioral health professionals for Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center's ("SEMHC") behavioral health workforce and professional development program(s) for admitted students
- Trains and coaches established SEMHC team members to ensure parity in knowledge and skill level to graduates of SEMHC's workforce and professional development programs(s)
- Identifies and utilizes appropriate methods of instruction with an emphasis on adult learning techniques
- In collaboration with the Program Coordinator - Behavioral Health Professions, this position develops, implements, and evaluates all SEMHC team member education as well as ensures that SEMHC maintains fidelity to approved workforce development program(s) and associated trainings
- Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator - Behavioral Health Professions, formulates teaching outlines and determines instructional methods for the behavioral health workforce and professional development program(s)
- Trains SEMHC new employee orientation and continuing education offerings that ensures current team members have the knowledge and skills comparable to workforce development program graduates
- Assists with workforce development program student placements
- Identifies gaps in professional development for current team members according to program and role with special attention to special populations, public health trends as week as regulatory requirements and works with Program Coordinator - Behavioral Health Professions to close those gaps
- Assists with quality review and action planning to ensure training is well-developed, satisfies plans of correction as needed, is clearly trained, and is completed by students and team members by assigned deadlines
- Represents SEMHC workforce development program(s) at public speaking engagements and recruitment fairs
- Effectively manages resources to include time management, prioritizing workload, planning, and scheduling
- Demonstrates effective communication skills, instructional design, as well as oral, written, and electronic presentation skills
- In collaboration with the Program Coordinator - Behavioral Health Professions, ensures program outcomes are achieved.
- Designs teaching aids using the Mental Health First Aid training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works
- Assesses community partners certified as Mental Health First Aid instructors to measure progress and to evaluate training effectiveness
- Assists with written reports and statistics on all training provided to community partners
