PCU RN position in Council Bluffs, Iowa
Stepdown RN department
Fast paced unit with many admits and discharges
Common diagnoses include heart failure, Afib, respiratory distress, and stroke
Nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 04
RNs required to titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitro
RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips
Job Requirements
Must pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
Must have relevant state licensure
ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications required
Schedule Information
Shifts : 0630-1900 and 1830-0700
Cyclic scheduling
Weekend requirements : Every third weekend
Holiday requirements : 1 major and 1 minor holiday
Floating to ICU if appropriate and experienced
Unit Specific Information
Attributes for success include positive attitude, teamwork, and patient-oriented care
Additional Details
Prescreen and auto offer process
1-12 hour shift of unit / department specific orientation
RTO needed upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
