Assist Health Plan Advocate and make a difference in people’s health! We act as an advocate for employers and their employees with their health insurance benefits. Our Wellness team provides services such as biometric health screenings, health coaching, nicotine cessation assistance, and more.
This role is an exciting one with flexibility to work as much or as little as you would like, being a PRN position. As a Health Screener, you will go onsite to our corporate clients’ and perform biometric health screenings for their employees. You will be the face of our organization and can help others by educating employees on healthy lifestyle choices. As an independent contractor, you can accept or decline available screening opportunities based on your schedule. Travel is primarily in Michigan, with most travel in West Michigan. Preference will be given to those willing to travel long distances (Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, etc.) and those who consistently perform screenings. Hours are based on staffing and availability and may not be consistent.
Health Screening Duties
1. Perform biometric health screenings, including
a. Finger poke – lipid panel and glucose
b. Blood pressure check
c. Height/weight measurement (BMI)
d. Waist circumference
e. Body fat percentage
f. Nicotine test
2. Keep calendar of events and communicate effectively and quickly with HPA Wellness Coordinator on availability
3. Equipment pick up, event set up including station and equipment set up, tear down, and returning equipment to HPA office
Requirements
1. First Aid/CPR Certified
2. Bachelor’s degree in Fitness, Nutrition, Health Promotion, Exercise Science, similar field OR
medical degree such as RN, BSN, MA, LPN, CNA, Phlebotomist, or similar
3. Excellent communication skills and able to effectively interact with people of diverse backgrounds
4. Familiar with blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, and BMI
5. Able to travel and work at our client companies’ locations
6. Must be a non-nicotine user
7. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds
Preferred Skills/Experience
1. Motivational interviewing
2. Nutrition/Fitness experience
3. Available for occasional overnight travel
4. Spanish speaking
Pay: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour
