Seeking Registered Nurses (RN) to work full time with King County Public Health
Position Details:
- Monday-Friday 8a-5p
- January 6th, 2025 tentative start date
- 3 month contract with possibility of extension
Job Duties to be performed:
- Conduct communicable disease investigations for notifiable conditions, primarily through telephone interviews.
- Provide public health guidance and technical assistance related to prevention and disease control measures to a variety of audiences, including the public, healthcare providers, and other community partners
- Enter data into databases and assure quality, completeness, and accuracy.
- Assist with documentation and communication on case and outbreak investigations in oral and written formats for internal and external partners.
- Conduct work, interviews, and investigations in a culturally appropriate, respectful, and non-judgmental manner.
- Specific examples of activities:
- Conduct an interview via phone, using a standard questionnaire, with a person diagnosed with Salmonella, to gather details (e.g., clinical symptoms, possible source of infection and transmission to others, and sometimes highly sensitive information like sexual practices) and to provide standard health education messaging to prevent ongoing transmission.
- Conduct cultural appropriate interviews with clients using phone interpreters, as needed.
- Follow standard written protocols to guide investigation steps and complete direct data entry into an online database/s.
- Conduct an investigation via phone with a high-risk facility to ascertain risk for disease transmission and provide appropriate infection control guidance tailored to the facility/condition.
- Provide a verbal and/or written summary to lead staff detailing the key findings and responses regarding disease investigations, including quickly elevating any unusual circumstances.
Licensure/Education:
- 3 years (minimum) required as a licensed Registered Nurse
- Bedside/Hospital experience required
- Public Health Experience Required
- Current unencumbered Washington Registered Nurse License
Employment Qualifications:
- Current CPR Certification
- Ability to obtain current Tuberculosis Test and Drug Screen
- Reliable transportation to all scheduled shifts
