This position is responsible for assisting the Dentist with the delivery of patient care and treatment within the Quinault Tribal Health Clinic
JOB COMPETENCIES (*Essential Duties)
- Provides patients and their families with instruction on oral hygiene, oral disease prevention and post-operative instructions.
- Communicates expected wait times to patients, dentists, and front office staff.
- Notifies dentist of their daily schedules and informs providers of schedule changes.
Patient Care
- Provides direct clinical assistance to dentists and dental hygienists by performing 4-handed dentistry, including passing instruments for operative and oral surgery procedures and mixing filling materials.
- Places temporary restorative material in teeth under the direction and review of a dentist, placing and removing matrix retainers for alloy and composite restorations, removing temporary crowns and cleaning teeth in preparation for final cementation, and performing preliminary fitting of crowns.
- Seats and positions patient in the operatory.
Clinical Support
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments consistently and accurately.
- Charts findings and treatment plans with dentist direction.
- Performs receptionist functions on an as needed basis.
Dependability
- Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Requires completion of Dental Assistant program from a two-year college or technical school; one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Requires a valid certificate of Expanded Function Dental Assistant including a certification of radiologic proficiency issued by the Washington State Board of Dental Examiners.
- Must be sealant and CPR/BLS certified.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen
- Eligibility to work in the United States
