Job Description:
The Speech-Language Pathologist will assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in individuals. You will work closely with clients or students, their families, and a multidisciplinary team to develop personalized therapy plans and support their development. This position requires a strong foundation in evidence-based practices, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment & Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech, language, and communication skills, as well as swallowing disorders.
- Therapy: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve speech, language, communication, and swallowing skills.
- Collaboration: Work with teachers, parents, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure effective intervention and ongoing support.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Patient Education: Educate clients and their families about speech and language disorders, treatment techniques, and strategies for home practice.
- Monitoring Progress: Continuously monitor client progress and adjust therapy plans as necessary to meet individual needs.
- Consultation: Provide guidance and recommendations to teachers, parents, and other healthcare professionals on speech and language-related issues.
- Compliance: Adhere to ethical and legal standards in accordance with industry regulations.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Valid Speech-Language Pathologist licensure in New Jersey.
- ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) certification preferred.
- Experience working with [insert specific population or setting, e.g., children, adults, schools, healthcare].
- Knowledge of speech and language assessment tools, therapy techniques, and treatment modalities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and able to work effectively with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.
- Familiarity with speech and language disorders such as aphasia, apraxia, dysphagia, or autism spectrum disorders.
