A large system in Nebraska / Iowa are looking PCU RNs. 36 hours guaranteed. 1 years of unit experience.

Schedule Information
Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) : 0630-1900, 1830-0700 / / Unit schedulers will make travelers schedule
Weekend Requirements : Every other
Holiday Requirements : As needed to meet unit needs

Nurse : Patient Ratios : 1 : 4-5
Common diagnoses / Types of patients : Young adults through geriatrics, sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, COVID, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, patients with complex medical issues including multisystem failure
Are RNs required to titrate drips? : Yes
Common titratable & / or set rate drips : Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, Insulin; maintenance doses of IV meds (non titratable)
Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? : Yes
Are there nurse aids / patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? : CNAs 1 : 10 ratio- available CNAs fluctuates based on unit census
Are there Tele / Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? : Yes, RNs must read and interpret
Floating Requirements : Can float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care
Scrub Color / Dress code : RN : Navy Blue
How many shifts of unit / department specific orientation? : First week classroom then 2-12 hour shifts on the floor
Additional Notes : Busy patient flow- admitting and discharging within the same 6 hour time frame while also completing shift change. Attributes that will help make a nurse successful on this unit are a strong sense of teamwork, friendly, positive can-do attitude, engagement in positive patient experience with commitment to bedside report and hourly rounding
Radius Rule : 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and / or Dignity.
RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
